Do I Really Love You?

I want to love You

The way my soul actually craves for You.

I want to hold unto to You

The way my spirit thirsts for You.

But I find myself

Doing what my body pleases.

It’s so confusing.

My heart asks me

Do I really love You?

People think I love You.

But I’m only trying to be vulnerable.

Our relationship isn’t for people pleasing.

I see the foolishness in my decisions

And I hear the lies in my ambitions.

If I love You I should really obey Your commandments.

My faith is threatened by hypocrisy

Responsibilities are keeping me busy

Shame doesn’t make it easy

Here I am trying to love.

Praying I don’t mistrust

What is my hope?

You’ll finish the work that You started

You’ll water this love that You’ve planted

You’ll stir this heart that’s in process

You’ll help me  focus

And bring me back your presence.
