All to You

When I think there’s a lot to do 

And I’m getting overwhelmed with prospects 

When missed opportunities gets me anxious 

When my workload is in excess 

You remind me —

More than what You’ll have me do

Is who You’ll have me be.

If it’s all for You 

Why do I get myself to these extremes?

Remind me as often as I forget, 

That I can do nothing to earn your Grace.

Fear not — is what you always say,

But I’m afraid I’ve not been faithful to believe.

When you’ll have me be still

My mind is engineered to do.

If it’s all for You

It means You have my best interest,

You see my mistakes, and you know my heart.

You understand I barely ask for help 

You know momentum keeps me going 

You’ve seen how strategic I can be 

And yet all You want is for me to trust You. 

Not to be laid back, but to be dependent on You.

Remind me that 

More than what you’ll have me do 

Is who You’ll have me be.
