Self Sacrifice

But here’s what I wanted to share last week

I used to think self sacrifice was going out of my way to do things for you. 

Now I know it is not even having my way in the first place. 

Sacrifice is giving up what’s valuable 

As an offering to be abandoned on your altar

For your own use, at your own discretion. 

Self is me 

Sometimes self is beyond me

And I find myself working for self.

Can I separate me from self?

I tried to do that myself 

But just like the last word 

It goes together.

I carry self by myself 

And I bring my – self 

To your altar 

I abandon this self on your altar.

I cast down my ego 

I come humbly before you 

Here is all of me 

Do as it pleases you.
